Brewers of Moonshine in the prohibition era often concocted their business in forests or meadows, and were perpetually sought after by the law enforcement.

Authorities often had to track the suspects on foot, and in order to deceive and avoid capture, some moonshiners strapped wooden blocks carved to resemble cow hooves to their feet.

The cunning invention was supposedly inspired by the Sherlock Holmes story ‘The Adventure of the Priory School’, and, in turn, inspired our first dress shoe: The Lexingtons.
